    Thank you for the advice.

As for the curling of the leaves and the height, is that down to the soil mix or something else

Those are starter leaves, I would wait until I get A few normal leaves on the plant. But yes Light too close could cause it to curl.

Yeh I'd guess compost if I had to take a stab, I use tropic mix which is 60% peat and 40% coco and it's listed as soil

If you mix anything with soil, just make it Perlite, or Sand, Coco is not good mix for soil. JMO

I've made an executive decision on the matter: I didnt have as much soil left as I thought I did, so I'm going to commit with the growing medium I've made. I've spent my afternoon reading post upon post, and it has been done many times before, albeit by more experienced growers, and with a more soil dominant mix than mine.

I will update this post periodically, and with any lessons learned, in case anyone else in the same position should stumble upon it.

For what it's worth, as I have a 50:25:25 canna coco: compost : perlite medium, when the plants require nutrients, I am going to proportionately use canna A & B as people have had success with both hydroponic and soil based grows with these.

    Wish me luck.

I was over watering them. Had the beginning of algae build up and they were looking a little curled so gave them 4 days without water and removed the top layer of medium (do have some 3% H202 on order that I'm going to add to my spray bottle)

Growth had slowed at around the 2.5 week mark, wasnt quite sure why, last night they has their first nutrients (canna a & b at 1:1000, 6.0PH). Checked them this morning and they have shot up and are looking so much happier!

Going to stagger the nutrients every other feed, currently giving them around 600ml of PH corrected water every 48 hours or so.

I'm in no doubt that experienced people would've got a greater yield with these plants but it's a learning curve for me. They look happy for the time being.
