Default What are those electric plug boards called?

I would like to make one of those board things with all the plug sockets on, if anyone knows what I mean?
It’s like an extension lead on roids.
A board with all the plugs I need, but proper plugs like are on the wall.
I remember seeing them on here before and it was said that they are a lot safer.

I have some plugs and a board and some wire. How hard can it be?

In all seriousness though, I want to do it properly if I can.

The wire I have found laying around seems like heavy duty shit.
Not sure which one I need. One has 4 cores and one has 3 (see pics)

Or do you reckon I should ask a sparky to do it for me?

Better off just doing a spur off your outlet If you can. That would be safer.

I have no idea what they are called, if you google a spur it basically allows you to run another socket off of an already existing socket, however you can only spur once off each socket and it can only be done on a mains circuit. Probably the safest and best option however you might need a bit of research.

Ok mate thanks. That does sound helpful, as I don’t have a lot of sockets in my grow room and want 3 tents with total of 4 lights, 3 filter, couple of inlines, approx 7x clip fans, 3 nft pumps.
That’s just off the top of my head.
And I have 2 double wall sockets

I would like to add in my previous comment I said can only be done off a mains, I meant I believe it can only be done off of a ring mains, if you google it, you will probably find more useful information however sort of gives you an idea. Would definitely be the best imo.

Had a look on YouTube about the spur. Not sure if I should be doing that tbh. I’ll duck it up most probs.

According to these websites though, a 13amp plug socket should take between 1800-2400w before tripping the system.

Im not 100% sure what the wattage is coming off fans, but surely not as much as the lights?
This means 1 socket should run a tent as long as I’ve got a decent extension connected to each tent, or one of them board things with plugs wired in.

    Light 600w.
    Fan ?
    Intake fan ?
    Few clip fans ?
Little pump in nft tank ?

    Here’s the websites I mentioned:

    https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/featur...ocket-3663653/

It actually says 2990w to one plug socket.
That’s plenty for even my biggest tent with 2x 600w lights, big ruck fan, a few clip fans, a cold tower fan, 2x nft tanks.

Yes, somewhere around that from a 13amp. UK sockets are 230v 50hz I believe, the math is 230x13 in that case.

It probably would be all fine to run something like you say quite safely. I don’t think it would be that hard to make. I’ll do some research and post back if I find anything.
