24/0 is fine for autoflowers... but, if you do photoperiods, you need to drop to 12/12 to trigger flowering

I've read that people keep them on 24/0 for the first few weeks then switch to 18/6

Cannabis is a C3 plant mate
As MC says cannabis is a C3 plant which means it doesn't require a dark cycle for photosynthesis.
And as it's an auto you don't require a dark cycle to initiate flower either.
For autos I run 24/0. Mainly to prevent the temp/humidity swings that occur at lights off.
NO SELL, NO SMELL, NO TELL!!!
I do 20/4, I know people do 24 with success but it feels weird to me.
I do 24 hrs else temps drop and rh spikes
