    Default Lights for new seedlings

    Hi

    This is my first grow

My seedlings have popped and are now in their pots in the tent, gave them a little watering with a spray gun so I didn't drown them but what I need to know is what light should I be using?

I have a 1000w digital ballast fitting set at 600w at the moment on 18/6. It's at the top of the tent 2m and won't moving up and down, is this ok for seedlings or is it going to be too much? Temp is a steady 26c.

    Cheers

You could get by with that if you don't mind spending the money on the electricity, the temps are okay for seedlings. But honestly, you can give seedlings enough light for a week or so with a CFL or just a couple cheap grow bulbs. It would simply be a matter of electricity

I've got a double fluro tube from the garage, would that do? If its just for a week is it worth it if the 600w will do the job?

I've started lots of seedlings and got them through their first week and a half two weeks under one of those old fluorescents. 40 watts versus 600 watts?

That is usually enough light. The only other suggestion would be to make sure where they are sitting is at least 70 degrees. Helps alot.
