    Default Stretchy seedlings.

    Hello again

So I don't know if my seedlings are classed as stretchy or not as I've never grown any before. Mine are between 2 and 4 inch tall after breaking ground on Monday-Tuesday. The one that broke ground first the 4" one has bent over nearly completely so I've had to prop it up. I've looked at a few image galleries online and they don't look like what's online.

They are under a 600w they're about 5-6ft from the bulb, they're been under plastic pint glasses with holes in since yesterday to keep the humidity up at the moment its only about 40% and the temp is 27.

    What am I doing wrong?

get yourself a propagation light and stick it a few inches from the tops.

plants stretch for 1 of 2 reason. too much heat or not enough light.

seedling require temps of 22-25c, humidity of around 50% and just enough lighting that one can place really close to them.

a 2ft 25w propagation light at 8inches away is better than a 600w 5ft away. and youll save electricity too

Too far away from the light mate

Not sure what distance you'd want with a 600w HPS but a max of 36" would be my guess?

So Ive just put in 2 5ft strip lights about 1 ft above the plants. It's the kind of light you'd find in a garage. Will that do the job?

they will do. but as mc said. much much closer. id say a few inches. 5 at most.

those arent meant for growing but can be used for now. set them at about 7inches from each other.

eventually youll want to get yourself 2 of the 2ft ones and have them about 7inches appart.

like this one. 2 side by side..

edit: extraction on 24/7. lower speed if possible but never turn it off

So Ive turned the 600w off, put the tubes in about 6 inches from the plant tops.

When you say eventually.... When, this grow or the next? When will I be able to put the 600w on?

eventually as in next grow/next time you have funds.
i would go for 2 at about 6inches apart side by side to you get good coverage.

i would keep them under there for atleast a week. you want maybe 2 nodes developed. then you can stickem about 1.5-2 feet from tops.
if you can dim your ballast then do so for the veg period. 400w is more than enough for veg
