Default Rdwc , hydroguard to get rid of root rot ?

Hi guys , hope your all good !

I have grow in at the mo , in alien 8 pot rdwc. Had to scrap the last grow a month in due to rot

So I’m a month into the new grow and been using hydroguard . Still getting a little brown in the roots but there going ok ish .

I have noticed there is brown , not slime but brown dried water in parts of the inside bucket .

I used to used Dutch pro keep it clean to keep the res clean but someone suggested hydroguard I’m not shore if I can use Both at the same Time or would that be bad .

    I also have pythof.

I really don’t want to loose another 8 plants to the rot of slime so any suggestions would be great .

I have it a deep clean before this run , 2 24 hour H202 and deep clean with bleach .

So I don’t know if I use pythof keep it clean and hydroguard together if it will be to hard for the plants .

Any help would be great .

    Rev

The hydroguard is beneficial microbes and the pythoff kills beneficial microbes. But I tell you what, since the hydroguard isn't quite doing it, I would switch over to the pythoff.

I just wish I could find a little bit of data on what's in the pythoff, I've run food grade H2O2 or SM90 in my reservoirs to kill all bacteria.

You may need more oxygen also, especially if you're crapping out about the same time each grow. How much does your air pump put out?

Hay jingo thanks for the reply mate .

I have a Hailea v60 air pump . I think the problem is the bloody alien transparent green net pots letting some light in . Crap design .

Do you think I should be using the Dutch pro keep it clean aswell ? Or will that act against the hydroguard?

    Thanks for the advice mate

From what I've seen the keep it clean is just H2O2, and it will work against the hydroguard. I'd really like to know what the ingredients of the pythoff is, If it should have coriander oil I think I would like it over the keep it clean. But it may just be H2O2 itself.

Just looked back at things a bit, I've never done recirculating deep water culture. but I can't imagine you can grow eight plants with just a 60 l per minute pump at least I think that's how they do those v60s. I bet you would require at least two to grow well.

You have to get the nutrient temps down. Does not matter what you put in the nuts if your constantly running 70 f plus. Buy a chiller.
