    Default Answered: Measuring EC amounts

Bit of a random one. But when mixing nutrients into a water tank, what's the correct way to measure and adjust EC as you go along?
My base is 0.0ec, I'm aiming for EC 0.8.
Currently, I add in rhizo till I get 0.2ec. Then add in A till I get 0.8ec then add the same amount of B, then do my pH. I've measured after adding B sometimes it doesn't budge. Sometimes it goes up 0.2, any ideas? Feel like I'm being stupid.

Once EC is set by you, then adjust pH

Same with how much pH down. You will get used to z number of drips. Try to do in one sweep. Best not to go too far and have to adjust back and forth.

Then if you ever lose your meters or waiting on new one, just go off your well practiced numbers

So many ml per litre will always give an EC

Yeah AB can be quite weak in some manufacturers. Rip off sometimes i think as mainly water.

PS pH down will effect EC slightly but dont worry too much, especially if you do it right first time

If you mess it up, just throw it (on next door lawn lol ) and start fresh."

Calmag first then AB then rhizotonic personally.

Defo need calmag supplement when starting from zero. I get to 0.3EC with that then 0.7 at moment with AB. Rhizo doesnt move EC much but is very alkaline so needs pH down to counter it

Yeah I know how much to add etc. It's just understanding the A + B EC changes. Does everyone do the same, add A to reach required EC then equal B or add A B then measure EC then add more A and B

Always add equal A and B separately and then check EC after both in

How could one be raising by 0.2??

    1ml/L raises it 0.1, so I add 2ml/L raises it 0.2ec

Yeah I do that and what I'm saying is A rises it. But B doesn't sometimes but sometimes does a tiny bit. So not sure how everyone else does it

Never noticed will check next time. Its a two part feed with different NPK in each and combine to give total NPK which makes the EC

Doesnt sound right to me at all. Are the nutes new?

I've never measured in between adding a and b. I'd have assumed both would have an impact on the reading so never thought about it before. I think qhat Gardro says makes sense... might have to test my b first. If yours isnt registering and ours does I'd be worried lol
