Hi All,
i will be attempting my first attempt and planting some germinated seeds outdoor directly into the ground. now i was hesitant to ask for advice and have yet to find tutorials online about direct into ground planting, just into pots which is not an option for me at this time.
having racked my head on thinking of rough ideas on how i might go about this i thought it would not hurt to ask for perhaps a little advice from members on here willing to spare any.
1. is it wise to put down a layer of my own top soil/mix on top of the ground then plant the sprouted seeds?, or dig a small hole into the ground directly and place my germinated seed in a peat pellet base of course and then cover?.
2. once placed do i need to place or line the hole if dug into natural soil with fertilizer or special mix?, or just let the natural soil do its job before covering the sprouted seed?.
3. how big and how deep in terms of circumference and depth is recommended to make the hole in order to plant my seed (s)?.
4. once planted how often should i water?, because i have heard that outdoor in the ground requires very minimal maintenance but was just wondering if i should check the soil base around the bottom like if it was in a pot to distinguish dryness etc?.
5. how long after planting is recommended before i should start to use perhaps fertilizer or pH type chems for say like spider mite and other potential bugs, if at all?.
Regards..
