Default first time growing outdoor uk (advice needed).

    Hi All,

i will be attempting my first attempt and planting some germinated seeds outdoor directly into the ground. now i was hesitant to ask for advice and have yet to find tutorials online about direct into ground planting, just into pots which is not an option for me at this time.
having racked my head on thinking of rough ideas on how i might go about this i thought it would not hurt to ask for perhaps a little advice from members on here willing to spare any.

    1. is it wise to put down a layer of my own top soil/mix on top of the ground then plant the sprouted seeds?, or dig a small hole into the ground directly and place my germinated seed in a peat pellet base of course and then cover?.

    2. once placed do i need to place or line the hole if dug into natural soil with fertilizer or special mix?, or just let the natural soil do its job before covering the sprouted seed?.

    3. how big and how deep in terms of circumference and depth is recommended to make the hole in order to plant my seed (s)?.

    4. once planted how often should i water?, because i have heard that outdoor in the ground requires very minimal maintenance but was just wondering if i should check the soil base around the bottom like if it was in a pot to distinguish dryness etc?.

    5. how long after planting is recommended before i should start to use perhaps fertilizer or pH type chems for say like spider mite and other potential bugs, if at all?.

    Regards..

    1 wont hurt
2 no idea but all the weeds in my garden thrive with no nutes.
3 I personally put a little pen hole and plant the tail and just leave a tiny tip of the seed showing as i like to see it.. iv been able to save seeds before of growing into themselves and snapping and other problems . also i think it sprouts upquicker... people will have diferent methods.
4 Water it if its wilting..
5 you dont need ph and stuff in the wild?? keep your eyes out... fetilize only when needed and thats when its a pale yellowy green.. iv gotten stick for this but i put a few ml of cal mag in my first feed (actually says on the bottle that it helps with fert absorbtion) and my plants come out a real deep green... if you have trouble later on with defs you have it to use again. keep a eye on it for mites and all if you get them i used a stuff called harkers pidgeon mite killer. i read it evaporates out of the leaves quick.. killed my spider mytes stone dea on both occasions where as the specific stuff doesnt work.

Why there , I wouldn't plant them directly into ground, use ur own soil and pot .. theres fertilizers already init and u dont need nutes for first ~4-5 weeks, depending on soil ..
Once u see the true leaves , u can water til runoff and let the soil dry up before watering again... dont know much about outdoor growing tho... peace out and good luck

Dig a hole at least a foot wide, by q foot deep and amend your native soil with worm castings and compost. Then replace it. You can add other things too, but this is basic. Then plant in that.

When I started searching around for an alternative I found out that the ingredients were basically the same as poultry wash, made specifically for poultry mites. Never felt like telling that to anybody cuz I figured most people would consider I was crazy. Thanks for confirming that I'm actually sane.
