    Default Humic acid. Worth it?

Morning all, I'm about to start my second grow in a couple of days. The last one was a bit of a mess as I started with ecothrive, it wasn't the best and wound up moving to nutes and everything went wrong.
This time I'm determined to get it right. I'm going outdoors, large raised bed, built a soil with castings, compost, and vermiculite to hold water and the usual amendments (seaweed, crabshell, rock dust, frass etc).

My question is this; will humic acid make a difference to my grow? I've done some reading and it seems a good product.
I've had a look online and people are charging what seems like silly money (£15/100 grams) but I've found a seller on eBay charging about £40 a kg who looks legit.
So, has anybody used it? Is it worth the money?
I want to get this grow right after my last erm learning experience. Please weigh in and tell me what you know.
    Thanks in advance!

My beans are just starting to show roots so I've a day or two before I put them in to decide whether it's worth spending any more money. Been expensive so far.

I believe it is generally added into most nutrient lines somewhere or they will have a separate bottle for you to buy that contains it.

Biobizz top max has humic and fulvic acid off the top of my head

    Its a natural PGR

Cheers mate. Will it make much difference over and above normal nutrients or is it just marketing hype?

Humic acids are fully decomposed remains of organic life. They exist naturally as part of nature's life cycle in soils, oceans, and streams.

You can always add more it wont hurt anything as it takes so long to breakdown and form the bonds it needs naturally its good to amend soil with to give it a hand

Thank you for taking the time reds, do you think granules will break down in a raised bed mate? Or better to stick with powder? I'm going to try a dripper system to keep the soil moist this time round rather than banana fingered watering like my last attempt

I am sure Vitalink does both Humic and Fulvic acids.

My bottle of Black Magic has both, but the product has been discontinued in the UK. It's made by Scotts, the people behind Miracle Grow, so they might have some in their products at a more budget sensible price.

If you're trying to grow in an active, living soil, then yes humic acid is necessary. It not only helps keep the nutrients in your amendments plant available, but also helps to neutralise any chloramines in your soil. You would also benefit from a beneficial bacteria/ mycorrhizae supplement, my go to is the nutrient company Mycorrmaxx, which has humic acid in already and is really quite cheap in comparison to other products.

A cheap way to do this is a touch of vitamin c powder in your water

    @supreemweeder
No worries mate, the granules will just take longer to get broken down in the soil so a mixture of sizes would be great
There's a company calke viresco I use there humic and its reasonably priced for the amount you use
Bio char is something else you should think about the mycho stuff shoild be used as standard by anyone by now surly
On another note I do buy the fulvic from bio-ag once a year for all foliar feeds
And I would try and avoid the ones derived from leanordite

I use humic & pulvic acid, with organic N fertilizer and another bottle of some kelp in it, and aminos and more stuff... since i started combine all 3 of those, bi-monthly, my garden thrives like never before. they are all liquid forms and absorbed almost immediately by the plants, i can see the reaction within 24-48 hours on my Mint and Basil. I chop 70% of my basil bi-monthly, its about 100 grams every harvest, from a normal window planter... thats kinda lots of basil and yes im proud of it LOL
