    Default Magnesium deficiency?

    Hello guys,

I have noticed that what I thought at the start to be a normal yellowing process of the older leaves might be a Mag deficiency. Here are some pictures of the leaf:

This is the only leaf in this condition, there are a couple of small leaves in the center with a green/yellow colour but no burn signs. Today most of the bottom leaves were dropping but I think it's because I watered a bit later then what I was supposed. If that is the case I should see an improvement in a short period of time and I will update. The over all leaves looks dark green and curling down, forming a claw. Plus, It does not seems to me that is growing as fast as before. It's been just 8/9 days in the flowering phase so I was expecting to see some growth still. I am still giving Bio Grow and plus Bio Bloom and Top Max in the amount suggested from BioBizz. Temp. between 25/29 degrees, Humd. 40/55%, Soil mix from Canna terra professional. It's at the end of the fifth week. The water I am using is from the tap, it should be soft from council analysis so I might need to implement some Cal-Mag. What do you think?

    Thanks for your help!

    Doesn’t look like mg def.

Have you tested your run off Ph recently?

If anything I’d say it looks more like Nitrogen def but it could be something else..

After a second look I think it’s most likely to be over feeding causing a ph issue.

I’d check your run off ph to get a better idea what’s going on.

Thank you for your opinion mate. I have checked the runoff ph and was 6.2 a week ago. I am going to check it again tomorrow. It might be overfed, considering that it is an auto maybe it's better if I go 1/2 dosage. I thought that a good soil should automatically balance the ph to the right level. If it is overfeeding then what's the next step? Should I flush, stop feeding, reduce the nutes or just remove BioGrow which has the highest nitrogen level and continuing with TopMax and BioBloom?

It is dying quickly. Although this is the only leaf in this condition, there are some random leaves with no yellow colour but the burnt tip.

In most cases the soil will buffer the ph within range but if there’s an excess of nutrients within the soil or you weren’t ph’ing the feed to 6.5 it will have a harder job keeping it in range.

It doesn’t look too bad to me, so personally I would just water next time with ph’d water only. Maybe run some extra water through it to balance it back within range.

Are you feeding with every watering?

Lowest big fan leaf gone a bit manky?

Pinch it off and forget about it. Part of the lifecycle.

Or you could flush through with quarter strength 3x pot size ph 6.5. Just to be safe.

As your ph was slightly low before though I’d say it’s a slight low ph issue and overfed. A water only at ph 7 also should do the trick I’d say.

What's with all the flushing and pH? It's a very low, very old fan leaf that just needs to be removed for cosmetic reasons.

The plant is a tad overfed, I grant you, but no need to go overboard. Just feed it a bit less.
