Roots sluffing off in the res is still symptomatic of root rot. If you decide to stick with deep water culture you really need to keep individual buckets for each plant, that way if one gets sick they don't all get sick.

I'm thinking I'll try aeroponics next, although I'm not entirely sure that'd eliminate the problem. From what I'd read before root rot in DWC was mostly associated with higher temps (like 75f+) so I thought I'd be ok in the basement, but alas...
If you want hydrostyle results then you want to go coco on auto water, it's much easier and will get you the same kind of results.
