Default Heat issues - Can not start 1st grow.

    Hi

Attic grow and just getting ready to start but can not get the temps down.

No idea what I am not getting right!

29c - 31c with lamp 60cm above top of soil where temp gauge is sitting. Humidity 45 plus. This is through the day in Scotland.

Thought I would be able to get lamp at 50cm and on at 600w.

    Gorilla Shorty 3 x 3 by 4ft 11inch
Kaizen Shogun 600w (Got it at 400w due to heat) Euro Reflector.
    Humidifier
Kaizen 6inc fan so I can keep power down and noise.
    Acoustic ducting
6inch clip on fan blowing up and over pots.

Drawing cool air from hole cut in attic near eaves dumping warm air into through hole at eaves at opposite side of attic. Attic is fully insulated and room enclosed.

Do I need a pedestal fan blowing hot air up and away from lamp?

Thinking I should have bought LED due to height restrictions and heat.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You can get a cool tube or put a fan blowing directly at the hot spot under the lamp, that alone should knock a cple c off mate

    Hi

I m going to buy pedestal fan to blow at hot spot 24/7.

Still unsure why it is happening? Thought I had done my research but do not want to start grow until I have this environment sorted.

I have a 6inch inline fan on at low power and side of tent are being drawn in. Cool air been brought in from hole to eaves and clip on fan next to where cool air coming in blowing over 2 pots.

Could understand if I live in Parth Oz but I am in North Scotland and yup it is muggy but max 19c in house.

Cheers for answer. Ordered pedestal fan. Gets here Thurs,.

Yeh it's surprising, never grown in a loft myself. If you can get it down to 27c - 28c should be fine. look at a cool tube though if you're still struggling, may knock off more c than a fan blowing at it

The intake is low and on the opposite side to your extraction which is from the top?

How long is the ducting for the intake and extraction? No kinks in it? Straight as it could be?

Yup intake low and carbon filter and extraction high.

As straight as possible and only a few meters for each.

Thought by fully inflating the loft floor and roof that I would be able to sort it. Did not think I would need cool air from outside but needing more than that. Still not ran the light over night as I can not get day time heat down to decent levels.

50w pedestal fan on route for Thursday.

Thought I would have the seeds in water and in the ground by today but the learning curve continues.

Every day is a school day learning this!

Yeah loft was only option but thought I had prepared the space with insulation etc.

When you say cool tube the are you talking about air cooled reflector?

I thought about that but was following the info from the growers guide and keeping it simple. In that book he has lights on at 600w with a basic reflector and one clip on fan blowing hot air away.

Just got to keep trying until I get it sorted.

Thats it mate, try the fan first and see how ya go. Yeh the cool tube replaces the reflector, the one I have does anyway, then it pulls the air strsight out, if you have time maybe look into em, sounds like you may need to be one step ahead. You'll get there though mate, temp isn't too far off anyway so not much of a battle

Sounds like youre in a similar set up to me. I had 600s in the loft and even on a clear skies, 22c day like today, temps always exceeded 30, regularly over 35 by late afternoon, really evening. The price we way for having large black heatsinks on our rooves, old slate gets so hot in the sun.
I'd suggest a parabolic reflector with vertical bulb, a sunking model, as they have louvres at the bulb holder where you can attach some ducting from your extraction. That's been my solution for the past year, but I've moved to led now.
When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all.
