I’ve got mine in a surge protector extension as well. But by the sounds of it that won’t help.

Yeh but thats on me for not finding out the info beforehand. The lights are clearly high power so it should have been common sense to me to find out if cheap gear will accomodate it. Grow shops just wanna make money for sure, you ever seen a "beginners grow kit2" garbage, so course they're gonna throw a will-do-the-job timer in

It’s down to us all at the end of the day to find out what we should be using. Just thought that information would have been easier to find.

If you would like to do a write up on it, I shall consider sticking it
I’m having problems with the search function. Always comes up with nothing found or something to that effect. So don’t think I was being lazy and just asking but saying that if mods do see something posted that’s clearly something that could cause a fire and possibly a death then maybe a quick PM to advise the poster that it is dangerous and a reason why.

If I had the knowledge to write something up that was factual and informative then I’d have no problem doing that. Instead of a sticky saying don’t use high power lights with cheap plug timer sockets. I’ll do some research and have a look.

    Cheers.

    You are welcome

Im sorry you've bought a timer that will explicitly say not for inductive loads in the small print somewhere. If it had no specs available then thats an even bigger risk you took.

Message here is do homework if not sure, dont get lippy after the event.

    Who’s getting lippy?

Yes I’ve bought a crap timer! I asked a question which is one of the reasons these forums exist. Your input is unhelpful and unwanted.

I've been here also had a cheap digital timer worked great when I first started, but with low watt blurple lights, soon as I switched to hps it just couldn't cope, as you will see every week there's something new does this does that my advice keep it basic

So I’ve just checked the specs on this timer.

Says it’s 240v and the wattage is up to 2900 watts and 13amps.

With my light being 1000w surely this timer is ok?

    I’m effin confused now!
