    Hello!

Have used these forums for great advice recently so decided to register.

I have done small scale grows before but needs have recently changed to a more stealthy need.

    I currently run:
    18L Pots
    Soil & Perlite mix
    RO water/nutrients
    1 x 300w 6400k CFL (veg) reflector
    1 x 300w 2700k CFL (flower) reflector
+ any number of 40-50w dual spectrum CFL for supplementary light.

I am making some changes for my next grow and moving this into a tent for more stealth.

    The tent is roughly 2 x 2 x 3 (maybe a little more) with 2 x 4" extractors and 1 x 4" intake fans and two oscillating fans.

My question is even with low CFL heat output will this be suitable to keep temperatures cool? Also, is it best to run the single spectrum lights together or individually in the tent? I have seen advice saying use them individually for each stage and also combined from veg throughout flower.

What would be the optimum set up for this equipment? As mentioned, CFLs are my best option at the moment and I have around 800 actual Watts available. I do have additional small HPS cool tubes if they can be used in a tent?

Any help would be great and feel free to ask for any more info that will help you help me!!!

I'd say run both spectrums throughout but if you can boost the red during flower and blue during veg you'll get tighter nugs and better growth from my experience. They need both spectrums but more focus on either side depending on part of growth they're on...

Using the sun as an example, during summer it's not just red spectrum and durigg spring it's not just blue spectrum but they are more focused at those times either because there's less filtering at the time for those extra rays during those parts of the season due to how far away from the sun our area is.

I don't use cfls so can't comment to the heat but I can say with a hps standard reflector running 600w full for 24/7 your extraction should be fine as you're essentially running something between a 6-8 inch for the space it's more a case of can you remove the heat at the same time as maintaining neg pressure plus fresh intake and air circulation (lots of bounce so it's not in one place, cyclone motion helps a lot)
Heat isn't much of a bother for most of them even if it's not ideal remember a lot of strains gorow in the desert and autoflower (ruderalis) was found in the borean tundra so...

Thanks Karsa! Really helpful information there and some points I've not considered. Been a while since I've had to consider space restrictions.

With both lights been the same wattage is a 50/50 split between spectrums suitable throughout? Is there a way of reducing output (stupid question I'm sure) on one over the other for the different stages? Had fair results with them both on throughout both stages before but always happy to improve quality/yield.

The heat on dummy runs seems to be well within bounds even with them both on for 24h. My inlet is fed with fresh outdoor air luckily so I think that helps a lot. I figured doubling the size and fans of the outlet will always ensure steady air flow and heat reduction? I also have two fans on opposite corners covering what will be the canopy areas, can time these to create the "cyclone" motion.

Thanks for the help, super excited to get this started and will get a diary started.

Also, thanks for not s****ng allover CFLs some of us are limited!!!

Thank you! I'm working my way through now, just had some questions I'm eager to ask now - my impatience gets the better of me.

Welcome.Am new myself and have found folks to be great on here.
One thing I will say is if you are pulling fresh air in from outside I would cover the intake with a piece of panty hose or such to try and keep the little buggers from getting to your girls.
Spider mite and aphids and gnats plus all the other creepy crawlies are always looking for a way in.

Cheers Blue, not seen any overly negative posts here. Some forums are awful.
Going to use an old pair of the other halves, sure she won't mind if she gets some of the smoke!
