Default Advice for seedlings - Thanks

    Hi

Another person has asked the same kind of question below.

Germinated 3 autos seeds and put in soil with tap root Sunday morning.

400w light 60cm above soil humidity at 60% and temps 25c.

Have I messed this up and gave the feeling too much light? Had to check one and the root had grown but seemed slightly dry.

Reading advice in other growers post below -

Got a couple of questions if someone has the time?

move light up to 80cm even with 400w?

I can put light down to 250w should I do this to begin with?

Spray watering them twice a day is this enough?

How long should I give them before binning and starting again?

I was so excited to see those tap roots appear but should have read more about the next stage.

Just another lesson learnt but that's what this is all about!!

    Cheers for any help.

Spraying twice a day should be enough, are you putting little plastic domes over the place where you planted the seeds? I always do that, I use freezer jam plastic jars. Your temperature matters a lot when it comes to sprouting seeds, probably want temperatures over 27 and up to about 31.

Another thing that I do planting seeds which is proper, but you won't find many growers doing it. Is when you see that little tap root appear, just when it's a point only then you plant. You put the fat end down and the little tap root up and then you cover with about 3/16 of an inch of soil. The idea is that tap root will come out turn around go down for about 3 days and then it will be like a person bent over and it'll have to straighten up and pull the seedling up out of the soil which removes its casing. I did a little bit of an explanation of this earlier in my grow that's in my signature.

    Hi

No covers as I thought having humidifier would have been enough but rethinking that as well.

Temps have been pretty constant at 25c but could easily get them slightly higher.

The learning curve with this is steep. Thought I had nailed it when I seen the tap roots showing but might have blown it with first 3 seeds.

Will keep watering and see if they pop by Friday. As I said panicked that I had burnt them so checked one as delicately as possible and the root had grown a lot so fingers crossed but need to read more into this.

Looks bloody easy on YouTube vids. Should have asked on here before I started and showed you all set up, temps etc as well.

Was watching on youtube and they were not using pots just spraying but can get little pots if you think this will help?

Every day is a school day learning this!

    Thanks for answering

I am heading out for a drive with son to get him out of his Mums hair. I will read up when I get back and then read some more.

Going to take some photos as well and get them posted b.

Thought I was nailing it 1st time but hopefully they will survive?
