Default cheap alternative to humidity domes?

    hi

I'm going to be planting my first germinated seeds soon, I've been looking online for humidity domes, but they're not cheap, is there a cheap and alternative way I can use? how about cutting these water bottles from the bottom and placing it over the seedling? I'm open to any other ideas.

    Thanks

I use plastic jelly jars or on occasion I use mason jars you can even use a glass if you want to.

It obviously needs to be transparent for the light to get in, right?

Does it need a small hole for little air to get in?

    Thanks

I've often used the top third of a 2ltr plastic bottle and have a look at this thread and see how they can be used

if they are still real small, clingfilm over the top of the pot works a treat

    Have you tried dollar/pound stores?
The dollar stores over here sell pretty f'ng big domes for about $2-$4,I used to use the bottom half of a clear 2ltr bottle.
