Default Sunflower oil instead of Neem oil?

I saw a guy on Youtube make a pesticide / fungicide organic home made mix. He said Sunflower oil is a cheap way alternative than Neem oil, then he added eco-friendly soap dish to the mix.

Has anyone used this type of mix instead of neem and soap nuts and had much success on their ladies?

Sunflower oil isn't similar to Neem as Neem has particular properties that make it of value to us.... Sunflower oil is great for frying chips

To be blunt I think that dude should stay of the crack as there is absolutely nothing in sun flower oil that would help with pest control. Neem oil has azadirachtin which is the agent that acts as a pesticide. Personnaly I think it's best used as a preventative measure rather pestiside. Using it at the moment to control gnats and well let's say its not happening...

I'm about to start my first grow, at the moment, collecting all the items for my grow tent.

I want to prevent any pests n shit entering the tent as much as I can. I am planning to make the neem + soap nut mix from a thread on this forum.

Any advice for prevention before I put the soil into my pots?

Shall I spray the entire tent with that neem + soap nut mix prior to starting?

It would be fine for a lot of aphids... but a splash of soft soap in water would do the same

You can buy yourself some clay pebbles and wash them and rinse them thoroughly cuz they're alkaline, then cover your growing medium with 2 in of those. That will keep your soil born pests from getting down in there and eating your roots. It solves about half the problems we get with pests. Some folks use clean sand on the top that also works.

Don't spray your whole tent man. It's oil. Perhaps a bit on your top soil. I'd just leave it out... you don't want to jinx yourself
