    They don't seem to do any harm at least not in their current incarnations.

    Christ on a bike. No idea mate but are they eggs they laid? Glad I live where I do and there's nothing waiting in the yard to pounce

    Have you tried Google lens? Might pull something up

    Thanks for the tip I found it on Google lens they are harlequin bug nymphs, apparently they like to eat about anything that has to do with vegetation especially squash. The adult bugs that is, I guess they're a type of stink bug. So I will have to check all my plants real careful and decide whether I need to do more than just pick them off.
