First time smoking pot in 30+ years...disappointed

I recently bought a few different strains(?) of marijuana from a local Michigan dispensary that is selling legal recreational product. I remember back in my teens and 20's the stuff my buddies had was so strong I would get mega fucked up, hallucinating, laughing uncontrollably, sometimes so high it felt like I could not move my body. Watching TV was an adventure in itself. Sometimes this would only take a few hits and I was done.

With this new stuff I am taking hit after hit and I feel a little buzz but that's it. I was under the impression that today's pot was so much stronger than back in the day. Not even close.

Can someone enlighten me on what's going on?

I miss those days, when I talk to youngsters today and tell them about hallucinating smoking weed they think I'm crazy. You got to look for the old land race strains, they can often take a very long time to flower. I really think it has a lot to do with the terpene profiles. For a nice mellow old-time stone I like Colombian gold by world of Seeds, they have a lot of old land race strains and I guess they just made Colombian gold into an autoflower I'm going to have to try that.

wow I am 30 and the longest break I had was 2 years and when I hit the bong again I felt too high haha. After though, my tolerance came back very quickly. Saying this though, I've never been able to get the high I used to get when I first smoking in my late teens.

Theres a ton more strains today than before, but I would have to say there is stronger weed than ever before out there nowadays.

I'm not a fan of store weed,up here its overdried,bland,and overpriced thats why I've started growing again,even a shitty grow will produce a better smoke than commercial shit bud.

Welcome m8 shit your tolerance will be right down too, I’m in the uk but have read quite a few people saying the legal shit is just that shit and costs quite a bit, get growing your own if ya can bud all the best

Same here m8 I was mega mashed off it in my teens lol sometimes I was that fucked I thought I better go sleep to get it out my system but nowadays it just makes me chill more and get a bit tired off it nothing like years ago

Yeah man, i used to get serious giggles with my mates and this trippy twitching in my body that I can't explain but i enjoyed it haha, I still get munchies though

Had to stay clean for all those pre employ drug tests.
