first grow, spent an age getting ready! feedback would be great!

starting my first grow!! ive maybe done it a little different to most that ive seen. so a quick rundown of my setup.

firstly, its a 1.8m ×60 ×60 mdf box i made, insulated and lined.

the panel on the side houses a temp controller, that controls a 240v greenhouse heater, and a 24v cooling fan.

my circulation is in the form of a tower fan, and 2 24v panel fans behind the greenhouse heater.

my light is a viparspectra 450, its just for 1 plant.

what you guys think? good? or shite? anything im missing?

Welcome to the Talk yosie, enjoy dude. Your light is old tec, but will grow you some bud. I've be looking into the Cobs, and or Micro's and the QB's for furture lighting.

i'll see how i get on, hopefully my light isnt too weak, i researched it quite a bit and i thought i had that nailed on for just 1 plant! as long as i get some i'll be happy. even if not ive quite enjoyed even getting to this point

I think you'll be fine with that viper I've seen some decent plants growing under those, there's newer technology and better lights but I still think you'll do fine with one plant.

You may need to get yourself some extraction and a filter, even if you don't care about the smell having some extraction for the air it'd be good. It almost looks like you're in a basement and you can get a lot of moisture growing cannabis, not so much for just one plant but you could end up getting some mold in there.

So is that soil or coco that you're growing in?

It's always a good idea to have some kind of wire rack like something off a barbecue or an oven to elevate your pot up above your drip tray. It's especially a good idea to elevate your pot if you're doing coco, but you don't want any plant to re absorb the run off water from the pot.

We all start off doing some research and getting what we think is the best for our money and then we turn around and replace it all. Sometimes over and over as we seek even better potential.

yeah its in my garage, i have thought about the extraction, to some extent. ive used the cooling fan off the temp controller to act as extraction. with the box being insulated (i used radiator reflector) it runs a little hot, so the when it hits the set point temp the cooling fan is extracting the hot air, it comes on for about 5 mins every 10 mins so i figured that was enough airflow.

i am growing in coco pal, and you are right i do need to raise it off the deck, i'll do that tomorrow.

i was going to wait to get a filter, see how intrusive the smell off the 1 plant would be. from your experiance, is a filter a must?

If you're someplace we're growing isn't legal then you definitely need a filter, whatever it is you smell will probably be 4 or 5 times stronger to somebody else who isn't around it all the time.

In a legal place, check your bylaws, some still require you to have filters in place.

In a non legal place, unless you like prison food and a sore arse get a filter and fan. One plant or ten it will reek, and it's one of those smells. Everyone knows what it is and it gets everywhere!
