    Default Beginner Help

Hey Guys. New grower here. To give you background info, I tried growing in potting soil and didn’t have much luck. So now am trying Hydroponics and it seems to be working better. I basically have a bucket with 2 small air stones going to a pump and 7 days ago filled it up to the base of the plants roots that began to poke through and added a few drops of NPK’s. As the roots are growing in lowering the water to force the plant to grow the roots in search for oxygen and water. This is now 10 days since transferring to the hydroponic setup. How does it look? The led light is about 18” away from the top of the bucket. Should I bring light closer or farther? I’m running 18 hours in and 6 off with a timer. Humidity is always roughly 50% although when it was a sprout I had a humidifier on and it got to about 70%. Roots in the water are not rotting at all and branching off pretty good. Since I am sensitive to THC (causes anxiety and paranoia) I am growing harlequin which is like 8% thc and 8% CBD or 1:1 ratio. Plan is to change water every week with fresh water and about 5 drops of NPK’s.

You're off to a good start, I take it you have an EC and pH pen? You going to have to have those two things to determine exactly how much to feed. If you put a few drops of NPK in your res you're probably too light on feed right now.

Hey Jingo, thanks for replying. I have a PH test, I added a few drops of NPK’s and I was at like a 7.0 PH. Added a little bit of distilled vinegar and brought it down to a 6. What is EC?

EC is electrical conductivity, that and TDS which is total dissolved solids are the most common measurements used for determining how much nutrients are in your water. your water may contain quite a few minerals already which will also affect how you're able to feed your plant. I'll find a link to a write up on some of the common things you'll run into in Hydro.
