    Default Run off Results...

    Helllllo!!!!!!

So if I am feeding with an EC of 0.8 at a PH 5.8, yet my run off is measuring 0.4 at a PH of 6.3...

I am assuming I should lower the PH of my next nutrient mix, o as my PH is 0.5 higher than my target of 5.8 should I go with 5.3 next time?

If I am not mistaken the lower EC means the plants are taking more nutes than water, however they don't look deficient

I am sure the answer's obvious but I am thinking about it too hard

    Cheers!

Measuring runoff is an unnecessary complication in Coco, just watch your plants if they look healthy keep on going.

    That's easy then!

Is it not worth keeping an eye on to catch it if it starts to get out of hand or flush with pH'd water now & then?

    Thanks

Whats in runoff water ..... yesterdays nutes, minus whatever the plant has used.... diluted down with today's... can't possible be accurate. Slurry test in the root zone is the accurate way but its a fucking pain to do and kills a load of roots in the process getting to it, so most don't bother.

Feed daily to runoff, this way your root zone is reset to whatever you put in each day. PH between 5.5 and 6.2. 5.3 would be too low for some of the elements to be taken up by the plant. Around 5.8 is the sweet spot usually but some can require a little either side of that..

Even better then (I think it's probably human nature to overcomplicate things).

    Thanks everyone

I only tend to look at run off if I'm having a problem...

But, yours suggests to up the feed a bit (The PH rise just shows the plant is drinking )

I used to use my coco runoff to water my chilli plants that are in potting mix. I know the potting mix has nutes in it already but the plants didn't respond badly so I did it for a while and they were fine.

Can't do it anymore though because the weed plants are in massive pots so there's no way to collect the runoff.

I've seen a grow wrecked because the grower was adjusting the feed to get what he thought was correct runoff.

With passive hydro, the pH of the feed stays the same. It only has to be within range for 24 hours. The next feed resets the ec and pH.
