Thread: Plants don't like my new system

Something is definitely off, main thing is not to panic bud..I would make a checklist of possible causes, then check each, even if you think they are ok, re-check..calibrate pens measuring tools and test again, it may just be something that is showing as ok..but actually isn't.

As above, if all else fails and you can't get to the bottom of it I'd be tempted to drain/flush the system and make sure there's no nasties inside

How about your water level how does it change? And EC for that matter?

They haven't really had roots down for long so water level doesn't really drop. EC has just sat at what I've set it at.

Just had a look at the roots though and they don't look too good.

This is inside the header tank.

I've used silver bullet in the res to prevent any nasties but it doesn't look good

I'm wondering if something might be leeching out of the plastic and causing issues?

Did you flush the system multiple times before use?

I had the same thought, did you bleach and disinfect then rinse all the plastic before use?

    Something doesn't quite add up

Yeah I've done multiple cleans/system drains before any plants got put in it.

I've got a tank in the loft that fills up from the mains and then I drain it into the system when I do a res change.

I'm thinking that that could have something to do it now, I have a pump in the tank in the loft so the water isn't sitting stagnant but perhaps it's managed to get some nasties in it.

That sounds like a very plausible possibility..or at the least one to fix and check off from the list
