Default light too powerful for grow tent?

Hello again chaps, my cupboard/ wardrobe is 116cm x90cm , ive bought a 1.2 x1.2 grow tent, with the intention being to cut down the poles on the one side to allow the tent to fit into the 116cm side. obvioulsy this leave 4cm of tent which isnt tight but that can be tightened using some strong duct tape on the outside.
i was looking and thinking that i might be better off getting a 1m x 1m grow tent instead, this is my first grow, so amount of plants isn't important to me, i want to have a go to see if im able to do it, (i have the opposite of greenfingers, plants and i normally dont tend to get on).

if i use a 1m x 1m, will the 600hps be too powerful? i was only going to grow 3 plants , but would 4 be ok in a small tent this size? my seeds arrived this morning so im trying to get everything up and running asap. thanks for any advice.

Alright man, I don't think the watts would be an issue for the plants, but the heat a 600w in a 1x1 or even 1.2x1.2 would be pretty extreme so depends on your extraction. Is your ballast dimmable?

You want a 6" extraction for that hps. You can get an air cooled hood which will help loads with temps (its what i use) hope it helps.

also for 6inch extraction fan use an RVK or Ruck

ah, thanks for the info, the ballast isnt dimable unfortunately. the extraction fan is 5" as well.
so would i be better off buying a 400w bulb and ballast for the smaller tent.
what sort of led light would i be looking at for a 1mx1m tent?
if heat is going to be an issue it might be better for me to get some led panels that will work for the 1m and the 1.2m tents instead...

If you think heat will be an issue already, if it's an option, then get led. I've got a 6" extraction fan and I struggle with a 400w in a bigger space than yours, you can put fans so they're blowing under the lamp to knock a cple or 3 c, plus as said above use a cool tube, which will dhave a few c off, but I found I was always battling against the heat, so just use led now. Site sponsor, I think he still is, is vivid led. I've got a small invisible sun board and just got a migro aray. The invisi sun has been solid and the aray seems to be doin a good job so far, added halfway through grow.

yes i was thinking about led lighting, but it is a lot more expense. i think i will give the hps a go first and keep looking for leds, i know very little about them , have looked at some threads and samsung LM301h lights seem to come up as good, also i saw a Bavagreen 240w light, both around the same price of £180.
has anyone else worked with either?

Understandable mate. You can get lumii black 600w dimmable ballast for about £50-£60. They have 250w, 400w and 600w settng so you can grab a 250w bulb if it's still too hot on 400w

I bought a bava green 480w. There wasn't too much info on them, but I did find a load of youtube videos on them. There is one grower who has done a grow diary and the results look good.
