    Cool Independent advice on LEDs

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking around for LED lights and have found it's difficult to get independent advice because most of the experts also sell lights, and they want to sell their own products!

I'm considering lights for my flowering space. A product was recommended to me by somebody I trust, but somebody else told me it must be rubbish because it's under $1000 per 800 watt fitting... but they wanted to sell a competing product, so I registered here in the hope that I could get some unbiased advice.

I have put the specifications below. I have purposely omitted the price and manufacturer's details because I'd like your opinions on the specifications and its suitability for flowering cannabis; not just speculation about the price point. Based on the data below (which I confess I don't fully understand myself) do you think this light is suitable for the flowering phase?

Many thanks for any advice you can provide!

    Benjamin

OP its a great point and you are in a great place to get advice. Wise man never takes advice from someone intent on selling you something.

Having said that our sponsors have some good solutions.

You have data, that is a start.

However the data looks very generic. Who when how and where is missing from the data. = Alarm bell

Further, not sure why a horticulture light would be tested in lux = alarm bell

Thirdly, really no idea why light would be tested at 6ft and with those tiny readings = they are not understanding the use of the light.

    Conclusion: avoid like the plague

Fourthly, they confuse ft and meters

Fifthly, the ppfd is specified at a single point. Useless

I found it the same trying to research LED's lol, almost EVERY comparison video is someone trying to sell their product haha.
I ended up buying direct on Alibaba after comparing numbers with several manufacturers and looking at grow diaries, only ordered mine last week to I can't comment on quality/performance etc yet.
Have you considered 2 lower powered panels to cover more area? I ordered 2x240w quantum boards for coverage rather than 1 big board.

Another benefit to 2xboards is you can adjust for canopy height much easier. More options.

Great point but its actually more effective to lift plants than drop lights if that makes sense.

Two lamps will spread the light better than one totally agree.

The very best lights use strips ( Fluence Spydr 2 for example ) this is equivalent to hanging many lights equally spaced rather than one big thing in the middle
