Default Unanswered: airpots a worthy upgrade?

    Hi guys.
Using an autopot type system with 15l pots and using coco, I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to airpots.

Any of you guys think it's a worthwhile upgrade?
I'll have to modify the base to fit the airport but it's doable

    Thanx in advance

They are much better than conventional pots that for sure. Don't know how it would work out with autopot system though, there is a plastic mesh dome shaped base in the air-pots that sits around 20~25mm from the bottom so contact with the nutrient solution may be an issue...Personally I would just hand water/feed run to waste..

I've got a bunch of air pots and I can't say I can see any difference between them and felt bags. Felt bags are cheaper and can do just about everything except keep your roots out of the runoff.

Well I guess I do use a little bit less medium when I'm using air pots, I use a 5 gallon felt pot but they're 5 gallon equivalent AirPot is closer to 3 and 1/2 gallons I think.

I use airpots with a pump and timer and that works well as run to waste.

Dont autopots fill up from the bottom like fill and drain system? Wont the water just piss out the airpot holes?

They use a wick system, water in the base is pulled up through the coco

Got ya, thinking of something else that fill to top for a few mins and drops.

Cant imagine wick effect bringing in loads of air and washing out salts in an optimal way though
