@Shreder silica is basically sand plants like sand, coco doesn't have any sand, therefore I always use silica in coco and not in soil.

This place never fails to surprise me with knowledge and different views on things, GT seems like the cheapest option (suppose if bud uses it then it must be okay) bit too technical for me the different variations in silica, the diatomaceous earth, don't some people use that on top of the coco to prevent gnats? I was under the impression it's particles where so fine it actually cut insects? Seems like ice has found another theory saying it dries/dehydrates them instead, thanks for the help on this situation again, price for price ill go with GT over yellow bottle...If in theory they do the same thing, has anyone here ever used budlink out of curiosity? I know a couple of mates who use it and the guy at the shop swears by it too over any other silica but they "claim" to use It at the same rate they feed

Toss some rice hulls in your soil and you'll have silica in due time...
