Default Extended light period during flower

Quick question... this morning my light timer must have stopped working because it never switched the lights off at 8 am and i never noticed until around 2 pm so theyve been on for 18 hours during flower. Question is should i be worried and what should i do next? Give them an extended dark period or just run them from 2 am to 2pm (formally 8pm to 8am) ?

Just carry on 12/12 as normal mate. That’s what I would do...

You can't trust a timer on its own unless it has a built in contactor.

The timer connections have a contact area the size of a pinhead. It doesn't take much of an initial current surge to weld the contacts together.

The contactors job is to handle the current for the lights, including the initial surge. The timer then has the easy job of turning the contactor on and off.

Aye the timers are all scrapped for now anyway, just gonna have to switch the lights on/off manually from here on out

It won’t matter if it’s only for a day or two, anything longer than that (if they are photoperiod plants) I would be worried.

    That sounds like work.

The grow shops do a well built timer/contactor that is good for up to 600w hps. Various brand names of the same design.

Less than £15 last I checked. If you can afford it, get 2. Not only was there peace of mind to me having a spare, I had 1 set to 12/12 and the other to 18/6. No more messing with those little buttons, I just changed timers.

Regarding timers, currently using a Tapo wireless plug, time set on phone app, works a treat - These didn`t exist on my last plant.
