Default Harvest time soon ! I need to build a drying box

    Good evening all,
So my first plant will be getting chopped soon , so I need to devise gow I'm going to dry the bud.

I have a spare bit of room where the combi boiler is which I'd like to use but it sits around 24° at 48% humidity so not sure about that space unless others say it's worked ok for them . Theres an air block low in there but nowhere else to exhaust to ( even then it will still have exhaust leaking back into room due to pipes in way of air block)

Or I can get a big cardboard box with a oc fan drawing air in the bottom and another pulling it out the top?

I have PC fans to do this but I'm no good with electrics etc so stumped asto how I can power the 2 fans , Any safe suggestions?

Unless you plan on starting another grow immediately after this one, dry them where you grew them.

It has airflow and carbon filtration.

I was looking at getting the next run going so was thinking a cardboard box with an intake fan and extract fan both old PC fans .
I was going to place this above my grow lights as I have about 5ft to play with up there.
Just not sure how to safely power the fans , electrics is not my strongest area

For projects needing 12v, I often use a redundant desktop psu.

Some have 2 green wires on the plug that get connected when plugged into a motherboard. A paperclip will make that connection and it will then run without a motherboard.

    Red = 5v and yellow = 12v. Black = ground.

I had a mini grow setup. My very first grow setup actually. My intake and exhaust fans were both computer pc fans that i simply snipped the wires. connected colors together and spliced with a usb cable. Required my laptop for power but I never used the thing anyways so it didn't bother me.
But i agree with farmer, the slower the drying the better (to a certain extent) if you dry them in a decent size room, even without the airflow you should be just fine. will just take a couple weeks.

If you are going to dry them on top of your light
I would suggest you put your box up there and
check the temps for 24hrs. That box might surprise you
with how hot it gets inside it.

i used to dry in a cupboard and i just put a little carbon filter and exhaust in there.. anythings good really. but being thats your first harvest, then here are some pointers i find to give me the best bud quality. make sure rh doesnt drop below 50 or gets above 60 (up to 58 preferably imo) and no fans pointing directly on flowers. i would keep some or all of the leaves as well. this way even when humidty drops you still get some grace for leaves turning crisp first, and not your buds.
you want a long slow gradual dry.. 5 to 10 days is good depending on buds, bigger, denser colas need more time..

nowadays, when i have the equipment to control rh, i like starting on 58, then gradualy decreasing to 50, which is trim day. i dont let them be more than a couple hours on 50%, its makes the buds too dry for me, but 2 hours is just perfect for quicker trimming.

    enjoy your weed dude. congrats

The cupboard I'm using is currently sitting at 20° and 55% . Got an oscillating fan underneath where the sample bud is now hanging . So not blown on directly but air is moving in there.
    Thank you for the advise
