    yo champions

i measure my leds with a cheap LUX meter
i get 70 - 80k lux in my tent now and just wanted to convert that into ppfd and dli
with a 3500k quantum board without any additional reds etc.

im on a 13 hours on schedule
so first thing ive dropped that to 12 hours.

getting average 70k lux (corners 60 to 80 in the center)

so i used a couple online convertors to get that:

    80k lux = 1202.77 ppfd x 12 hours = 51.96 DLI
    70k lux = 1122.59 ppfd x 12 hours = 48.50 DLI

Both seem very high to my understanding, that without additional co2 i shouldnt exceed a DLI of 51 so that's very much up there... and was 56 on 13 hours!

Temps 29.5 to 30.5c and rh is 70% (i think today was the most humid day of the week)
Entering Week 4 now so i will turn on the de humidifier, it will set us on about 32-33c and 50-60 rh.

For now, ive dimmed down a bit to have 70k in the center.. what do you guys think? what are the best stats i should aim to get? temps, lux / ppfd and dli?

    bless yall

I can't help straight of the bat mate but have a little read on gpnmag, granted there'd lots of variables to take into consideration but it's worth a read

With hid, it's almost impossible to give them too much light because heat.

Whatever I know about led is from reading here and 'too much light' does get mentioned. Although I've only seen one pic of bleached tops up to now.

I always give seedlings full hid light and nutes (lucas formula) from the start. As long as the roots don't overheat, they thrive.

Being a lazy pragmatist, if I got led, I would let the plants decide. Assuming full jars, ie. no running dry worries, I would blast them with all the led light I could. If they complain, and only if they complain, I would wind it down a bit.

On 12/12 its hard to give too much DLI but the ppfd above 1000 is producing diminishing returns Shred, as you mentioned, with no CO2. The plant grows but your 'gram per watt' falls.

Vegging plants and autos enter into high DLI with decent led grow lights. HID its hard as you get infra red cooking before you get high PPFD

I run around 28C and 1000 ppfd mate. Running some photos again this time so will let you know.

No idea on lux as its all over the place between different people and their kit. Use data sheet heights as best method but only decent grow lights will have that specification reliably done by 3rd party.

I went with an online calculator, i chose my lights are 3500k low CRI that was the only option for 3500k led.

It said 80k would be 1200+ ppfd

So ill run with 70k in the center and down to 55-60k corners, will probably be around 30c .

Recommendations for decent yet cheap PAR meter?

Cheap PAR meters are no good mate. They dont respond to lots of wavelengths. MQ500 / 620 is a good entry level one.

Why do you need one? Once you've dialled in over a grow or two then your good no?

Those Chinese leds will be similar to HLG but 10-20% less PAR so just use HLG data sheets and take a bit off.
