Lightbulb Purple Stems, Purple Veins, Growth Stunted

    Hi Everyone,

I've recently switched over from HID / HPS with no issues over 10 years of growing to LED. I'm using the Mars Hydro TS1000 for veg and TS2000 for flower. Generally when I see red with HID, I would ad phosphorus to the grow and thing would go back to normal. Though I'm seeing this in young vegging plants as well. I've gone different heights with the light. Manufactuer advises 12 to 18 inches from the plant, though I believe this is too close. If I set them at the recommended heights, stems get really red, veins as well. Pull it back to 26 inches, the same, but not as bad. Hope you can give some advise on this LED thing. I'm almost to the point of going back to HPS.

Strains: Bubba Kush and Northern Lights (No purple strains)
Problem: Same as a phosphorus issue. Red stems, red veins, splotching, dark green leaves, growth sucks..
    PH: 5.9 stable
    Temperature: 78 degrees stable
Lights: Mars Hydro TS1000 for Veg, TS2000 for flower.
    Grow Method: Hydroponics

Any help would be deeply appreciated. This issue has already ruined my Bubba Kush as you can see in the picture...

Thanks everyone. I just can't believe these LED's now a days are that powerful or more than my 600 watts HPS... That's what I was thinking was the light, but the lux was at 55k lux, I lowered it to 40k lux, I'm going to set it at 32k lux. Wished I had a PAR meter, but learning these leds. I just can't believe I have to set it at 75% at flower 18 inches from the canopy. 40 inches was still to high at 100%... So we'll try the 18 inches at 75%.

Shreder - yep I have fox tailing as well. Once I get some fat buts from this learning grow. I may give it a day or two at the end to bring in some nice colors.

HPS light travels, on average, further to the plant than LED, thats why you have to be careful

This was my thinking as well. Surely a 150 watt LED light can't be more powerful or not powerful, but more light than the plant likes at the same distance I kept my 600 watts HPS's. If I put the plants close to the LEDs as I do with the HPS, whole plant turns into this phosphorus deficient looking garbage I may've grown 10 years ago. This is week 7 in bloom. I've lowered the brightness earlier today to 75% at 20" (3 foot plants, 14 nodes), the plants are now loving the LEDS. Turned the vegging ones with 6 nodes down to 40% from 55% @ 24 inches with the TS1000. Already seeing healthier root growth. I'm starting to think that the higher IR value that these LEDs have must account for something stressing the plants to the point of root rot anything closer than the manufacturer suggests. Notice one plant's PH dropped to 5.2 today with the same exact PPM. So there has to some type of root rot going on within the root ball. This Bubba Kush, just going to get it flushed and move out as fast as I can. Northern Lights is loving the light percentage drop.
