Default How many watts for a seedling?

First grow! I’m on day 4 now since sprouting.

I’ve been using a 23w cfl whilst I’m setting up my grow space which will have LED lighting.

The plant now has two true leaves and it’s working on the next set.

My question is, do I introduce another 23w cfl?

How many watts for a seedling?

    Thanks!

As many as you want. the trick is to have it around 200 to 400 PAR, A 1,000W light would be good at 30" just an exzample. Seedlings need 24 hour light cycle, you can change it When it starts to root, in about 14 days to 18/6 is good for Photo.

Thanks! I do keep hearing that you can’t have too much light when it comes to CFLs, as long as the best doesn’t become an issue. Is that right?

Also I’ve been learning about PAR but I don’t have a PAR meter..

Is it an auto or a photoperiod seed? If photoperiod then as Hotshot said. Autos are a whole different ball park!

With autos they want light from seed to weed. Keep your lights high for a week or so and then move them down slightly.

Put them under the light but keep it higher than usual to prevent the seedling from getting burnt. CFLs never imressed me. My girls go straight under 600 watts of pure dual spec power. Like I said just raise it higher so seedlings are comfortable. Your plants will thank you for those extra lumins. I did try vegging on 400 watts once, but plants where relatively weak compared to those started under full power.
