Default How do you handle your colas??

    Hey, hey,

Maybe a dumb question, but when you trim colas, how are you handling them? Just thinking about the sticky trichomes and wondering if/when they get smashed from handling, bumping etc.. does it loose potency?

Clearly it's best to handle with care, but any tips for handling is appreciated.

    Peace

I wear non powdered surgical gloves when i trim. Too messy otherwise.

Can't make an omelette without breaking eggs...

Don't be too rough with the buds & you'll be fine

I use one glove, on the hand that holds the colas.

I aim to always leave some stem to hold on to, I dry pretty much intact and upside-down then take a node/branch at a time. I trim while still on the branch and then snip buds right into jars or bags. I normally do the prime colas 1st as you can get sloppy after 2-3 hours. Play some stand up comedy or music while you work. Time will fly.

Thanks all. I figured as much, but had to check.
How far do you go when dismantling those large tops? Just till it becomes too tight to cut? Or is bigger better?

I ask because when I was trimming buds off the colas from an OG Kush, I had several buds that were pale white - no green, and looked potential for rot if left to cure that way. So I trimmed that out and tossed it. Kinda like the yellow white lettuce you see when cutting a head of lettuce when making a salad. Less desirable looking for sure. So I treated it the same way, and tossed it. Hope those aren't some super potent buds or something. Again, just had to ask.

I have one Kryptonite 50/50 sativa hybrid that's ready to go and she's really turned out nicely. I just posted a photo album of her in the gallery. The leaves turned a dark fade of green, black/purple with the cold temps and is getting really frosty. She's now centered under the led and not competing light, it's time for the ol swing swing swing and chop chop chop...

    Cheers

Thank you! I'm doing this in secret away from the kids, and although trying my best to do quality trim work, I was fighting sloppiness due to my inability to really relax while trimming.

Ugh, the link didn't work. You can search under "Kryptonite in flower" in the gallery if interested.
12 macro shots that came out nicely.

The apex/ prime bud can be broken down further i don't think there is any advantages to keeping it together other then looks. Work with what size curing vessels you have.
If it was bud rot it would be brownish ,orange, dusty with the spores, it could be light bleaching it they were too close to the light. You cut it out so no worries, just watch for further spread if bud rot.
