    Default Vegetative Growth Stage

If someone says "Veg for 5 weeks" would they be referring to once the plant has finished the seedling stage as opposed to 5 weeks from seed.

And if so would the first 2 weeks be classed as the seedling stage or would it be from when the roots have taken & plant growth takes off?

    Thanks

I count veg from when the seedling starts to grow rapidly, often they grow slow as they're putting down roots and then suddenly bam they take off upward. That's where I like to start counting my veg weeks. It usually works out to be about 10 days or 2 weeks and that's usually about the time I transplant to the final pot.

Vegging for X amount of weeks depends purely on lights and space.

In a 1mx1m grow space for example you would probably veg one plant for around 4-5 weeks under a 600hps. But, if you have a 2 tube T5 you could be vegging for months at a time.

My advice is to remember plants can double and sometimes triple in size once they are flipped onto 12/12 (Photoperiod).
Plenty of LST/Topping helps keep plants small, but maximises the amount of budsites exposed to the light.

Medium also makes a massive difference in how long you would veg for. Soil is longer than coco/hydro (in my opinion).

Get distance from the top of your pot to the light. Then, minus the amount of distance you need your plants from the light. And then half that again and you should be able to work out roughly the size of plant you want in veg state.

    Hope this helps

Thanks, but I was questioning whether the vegetative stage it starts from when the seed pops or after the seedling stage?

I think I'll just class the first two weeks as the seedling stage. Same as I class flowering from two weeks after the flip (keeps things simple ).

yea, you could get multiple opinions for this question. Veg stage indoors can be 7 months if you really wanted it to be. Like SyRaX said it really depends on your space. Veg can end as soon as you start to see signs of maturity. Many go by veg beginning on first set of true leave. I usually say the 3rd node because if I choose to top the plant, that's where I'll do it. There is no real perfect answer here.

From seed I'd estimate around 3 weeks of 18/6 would be classed as vegetive growth. That is, if your setup is dialled in
