    Question First Groom Setup

    Hi All,

I wanted to create a post to help me keep track of what I have (Will update this post as things change) and still need to get to successfully setup my groom. Would appreciate any advice/recommendations you might have.

    Already Bought

    1. 2 x Invisible Sun ISH265H Pro lighting kit - Cost around £510

    Still to buy

    1. Tent - Been looking at a Hydrolab 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.0m - Cost around £130 (Wanted to buy in next few days but open to recommendations on another brand of same size if considered better)
    2. Carbon filter (Not sure what size I need?) - Remember reading Rhino Pro was the one to get but seen these have not been as reliable lately and Carboair being recommended instead
    3. Extraction fan
    4. Heater
    5. Humidifier
    6. Thermometer

Still need to decide on preferred medium and seem to find myself going in circles on pros and cons of each, so hoping once I have the basic groom setup will force me to make a decision.

You could get a tent cheaper and I would only go for rvk fans.

Haven’t set myself a budget but hope I can find a good value setup that should last a few years without needing to replace to soon. Prefer a quiet setup but will be in its own room away from where I sleep.

What tent would you recommend for same size? Think I remember reading rvk fans are the one to use and the size depends on the size of the carbon filter?

I think budbox are the best tents in the uk but not cheap. carbo air are top of the line cant go wrong. RvK fans work fine but you need a good silent fan controller or box it in, if you can afford a digital EC fan then go for it. How cold this room get ? The newish G.a.s humidifier is very good. I use bluetooth data loggers, cant stop buying more and looking at my graphs all day.

Ok thanks, will have to take a look into a digital EC fan as don’t know much about them. Room shouldn’t be that cold as planning to use a spare room in house.

What size carbon filter should I get for a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.0m space? Would the Carboair 50 100 330 carbon filter 410m3/h be enough to keep the smell away?

You need to size your fan based the size of your growing area so that you can remove the stale air quick enough to allow fresh air which will give your plants more co2.

    To do this you to.
Step work out the volume of your grow Area and multiply by 60.
    1.2 x 1.2 x 2 = 2.88m3

Then you need to factor in your losses for your ducting carbon filter etc. so for example 25%.

    2.88m3 x 1.33 = 230m3

Then you need to think about other things that may effect things like weather you grow in and warm attic where you might want to extract air quicker.

For a warm add you might the to add another 20%

    230m3 x 1.2 = 276m3

This is the final figure of the maximum amount of air you need to extract every hour.

Personally I would get a fan that can handle a lot more and get a decent fan controller.
