Aquarium heaters can be used if room temps are low but the internal bi-metal strip has a wide range and can overheat the roots. Best to set the heater to max and run it from an Inkbird temp controller imo. Will give more stable temps.

In the UK, it's only the heatwaves that call for a chiller. A temporary solution is to have plastic soda bottles 75% filled with water and kept in the freezer. Put one or two in the res to bring temps down as needed.

There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they're necessary to reach the places we've chosen to go.

I do have a question to ask you guys. I have bought a 4 inch Rhino Pro carbon filter and a Black Orchid 4in eco duct fan which claims to circulate 105 m3/hr. Is this fan powerful enough to suck in enough air through the Rhino filter or should I get something more powerful?

Wow! I was not aware Rhino had this on their website. I never thought to look there as I did not order my filter direct from them. Thanks for this it will help a great deal. I appreciate your input
