Default Unanswered: Fan and CF setup

So I'm going to install extraction in Sunday,
Now I know I'm doing things slightly backwards by having the air sucked out the spaces into the loft then through the CF.

Now to ruduce noise I'm thinking......

Line a cardboard box with polystyrene boarding I have laying around and then hang from rafters by a few ratchet n rope things.
So as I'm pushing through the CF instead of pulling I'm thinking I'll need to devise some king of pre filter to the ends of the ducting , would tights around the opening of ducting be good enough or should I go tights then small amount of cotton wool then tights again to keep in place ?
Also as filter is at the end of the line just after fan could I connect them straight together or best to add a sml length of ducting ?

I use tights, muslin cloth or have used 70 micron screen too as a bug/dust screen

As for noise, sounds good, I've made cardboard boxes and just rammed the box with scraps of bed sheet etc so it's full, all round the fan, crammed in. Does a good job

If your wondering about pushing or pulling air through the filter just have the filter in the G'room and run the ducting up to the loft where the fan is.

Get a dimmer switch or contoller too if its too noisy

You can definetely push air through a CF anyways check these bad boys... these are from the air extraction in the club i work in.

I have a pair of tights on my intake and it does a perfect job, it creates alot of negitve pressure in the tent.

Pulling thru the filter is the best way to go imo.
If you put tights and stuff between the fan and filter
that is even less pushing power. Also the duct work
can let smell escape before it gets to your filter.

Agree with Blue. You can drive a car in reverse but its much better in drive

Just like most fans in this application produce more pull than push.

But it will work either way.

Also consider an inline carbon filter, bit pricey though

    What a great analogy.
