    Default Loft

    Hey there people,

Who grows in the loft or who vents into the loft using 2 or 3 600w HPS lights? I’m looking for some advice.

I’ve got a spare below and my intentions was to use the full room and vent up there I’ve been up and looked for vents and can’t see any (it’s an old council built pit house). There doesn’t look to be a chimney breast as such the walls are pretty flat all the along up there unlike the bedroom below where you can see an actual chimney breast come out from the wall and then the living room below. There is however some bricks that sort of arch. (I could take pics)

So my question is does any vent straight into the loft using 2 or 3 600s in an uninsulated loft?

Also is there any builders here who could answer if chimneys are shared?

    Thanks Marley

So you was actually venting air and heat from 3x600s into your loft? Was this during the summer or colder months?

One thing no ones touched on about venting into a enclosed loft is neighbours.
I can tell you by experience that be careful doing it if your house is a terrace or a end Terrance.
Some of the old walls to separate you from your neighbour ain’t up to much in the loft and the next thing you know your neighbours asking why his loft stinks if he’s/she is nice enough to just tell you

You might find a old flu in the loft you can use to safely vent it out.

I have neighbours either side and one is definitely not on good terms although I’ve no idea why. With a carbon filter attached id have thought there wouldn’t be much of a smell although... can’t imagine they’d spend much time going into there loft.

That’s what I was hoping to do is to tap into the chimney although have no bricky or construction knowledge to know what I’m doing. Would the neighbours chimney be joined.... there’s also no breast as such like the rooms below where an obvious chimney is. Just look like normal walls but they have like arched brickwork at each side of the house but on one side of the wall. So kind of like a letter r
