Default Is DWC a costly setup?

Hey guys, so I'm planning on growing in my shed in a couple months once weather warms up, I've got a few soil grows under my belt but I find DWC to be intimidating but it seems less suspicious growing in a shed so I won't be in and out with litres of water everyday.

I've been constantly reading and learning on what goes into it and it seems like alot. Is it really as easy as people are making out? How much maintance does it need? Is it quite noisy with the air bubbler?

It seems you need to constantly be checking PH and PPM and anything else. Change the res constantly?

What's you guys experience? Some lovely grows on here and it seems plants thrive so much more then they do in soil.

Seems like you really need to know your shit to grow hydro.

If you're confident with soil, that would use less water.

I did dwc for a few years. It was a good option back when hid lights were far less efficient than now. I never could keep the pH stable as the res was too small. Bigger the airpump, better the veg growth, at the expense of more noise. A few months into trying passive hydro and I knew that I'd never do dwc again. Far less hassle in return for an extra week or so of veg time.

Apart from soil, a good option for you imo would be hempy buckets. They need feeding every day until the roots are established but then feeding every 2 days is fine. Can even leave them for 4 or 5 days if you really have to. They might not be best pleased upon your return but they'll recover within a few days of regular feeding.

By following the very simple instructions, any newbie can get a good yield with hempy buckets.

Thanks mate, humpy buckets? That the coco coir stuff? I've been looking into using that stuff.

I didn't know if doing DWC would create much noise but I suppose with the air pump I'm sure it gets abit noisy.

I feared id constantly be having to buy bigger gear for the set up and it sounds like you confirmed it lol.. I may go down the coco route. Seen some good yields. With growing in a shed I need it as quiet as possible so I'll leave the dwc out then.

Seems dwc is superior but alot putting into it.

Hempy is a little different from coco. Folks use coco
in there hempy buckets but it is different.
Here's a link to Mac's how to hempy thread.
Give it a look over and then you can decide if
    it seems right for you.
