cmh is not worth it imho unless you go for the super premium range and 500w is never 315w.

No surprise that less watts is less heat. Same applies to cmh and any other electrical device.

This is only talking about quanity to. Theres no contest when it comes to quality.

    But

it sounds like you already have your mind up
    yes lol

what i have researched with various cdm companies is that a 315 cdm is equivalent to a hps of 500w but with a better spectrum of light emitted.

As for 2.9 umols on led now that's big bucks not £99 or even £350, possibly double the latter price.

All just depends if you want to use old technology and pay for it in electricity or have a far superior flower at the end of it, with a light that will be free of charge after a few years.

I hear magnetic ballasts are going cheap too. Second hand even cheaper. Theres a light for every budget but in the end, you will pay through the nose for that bargain.

Dont fall for the marketing that says 500 is 315 or that a bulb is full spectrum, by the way.

It cost me $400 cnd for 2x240w QB's with express shipping on Alibaba,I was always an HPS guy until I bought these boards,I already pulled 9.5oz dry bud from an autoflower under 1 of these boards that was running at 220w on my first run and was able to drop from a 6" extractor fan to 4"
Two of these boards running at 440-480w combined will easily beat my old 600w HPS setup, and I was a non believer a few months ago!

Ok fair play, but what if it does not last years, you are then back to square one and buying again.

    never buy used.

so just fall for the spiel from all the led companies, i've seen many an led ripped apart for testing and lots were/are complete bs to what they claim are wattage etc and spectrum, the exception being the big bucks ones.

well auto flowering plants these days are known for large yields, so my best mate first grow single plant used 400w hps 12oz bone dry not an auto, second grow atm being flushed again under 400w 7 colas each over 1ft long cannot get both his hands around the buds/colas and his hands are like shovels so your post proves nothing really.
