Default Can I run 2x600w hps without a contactor?

Just as the title suggest I'm wondering if this is a good idea or not.. I did order a contactor but it was out of stock so got refunded and just continued to set up 1 of my 600w hps with 6"rvk extraction and a TD 250/100 silent, and recently added a 200w blue cfl in the mix so I'm guessing an extra 400w shouldn't be too much trouble? I'm using DigiLight Pro digital ballast if makes any diffence

Okk thanks for the input.. What I did order was a heavy duty 4 plug job in a big green box almost like what you seen in schools but was £100.. So I'll be more than safe plugging 2x 600w digital ballasts into one of those? I don't plan on using the 2nd til flowering anyway

Not recommended without a relay, but you've already bought one, as a safety note add a RCD to wall socket and plug everything into that along with switching 13 amp ballast fuses for 5amp, just my tuppence what i do.

Why are there 2 plugs comin out 1 end? And to run 1 hps ballast, do you need to plug both of them in? And can they both go into the same extension lead?

Someone else who's confused why thank you haha ermm I assume you plug both plugs into the mains then you have 2 sockets for your lights etc.. But still kinda confusing why would I need a contactor with one of these kind of defeats the purpose? Think ima just spend the £100 and try get the contactor I originally wanted.. But yes I'd assume you'd need both plugged in jusy for 1 to work. Really shit design if ask me as I'd need 1 light plugged in on one side of the room then one on the other from a different socket. Currently I'm running 1x 600w straight off the mains after advice from multiple people saying that's 100% safe now got people saying it's not soo confusing and wtfs difference between a contactor, a relay and the other job then? Wish my contactor weren't out of stock could of just plugged in and been away getting soo much contraindicting info here lol

    Wink

the two plugs that come out of one end of relay are labelled one for timer and one for mains, the other extension end is for your lights be it one, two three or four ballasts you are powering up.
This is my set up, RCD into wall, mains plug from relay into RCD, Timer straight into wall socket, then both ballasts plugged into relay extension lead.
I also replace the 13 amp fuses from each ballast with a 5 amp in each, easier for a 5amp fuse to blow than a 13amp especially on a 32 amp mains circuit, just me being extra cautious, maybe not needed but i sleep well knowing that it will trip out blow a fuse before it gets to fire risk territory.
Tbh i don't know if a relay is in fact an RCD, so you check that out with an electrical store.
