    Lightbulb Wiring RVK fan

Hi folks I searched this sub forum and didn't come across a thread that helps my query.
I know how to wire things up y'know a plug an all that lol
But my question is this. I have a new 5" RVK and it came without a lead. I know I'll have to wire it in the fans square junction box. I'm going to buy a 1 gang 5m extension lead and use it. I think it's a 3pair cable but with a 13amp fuse in the UK plug.
I read somewhere on here someone mentioned that if the plug has a 13amp fuse replace it with a 5amp..
Is this correct? And out of interest why?
    Thanks

13 amp is way too high rated for these fans...If the fan develops an issue you want the fuse to blow not the fan melt, hence 5 amp...On a side note these fans with plastic bodies don't require an earth so will only have two terminals in the fan junction box in most cases..

    Regards BL

So are you using the plug off the extension and wiring it to the fan, but changing the fuse in the plug from the extension lead from a 13 amp to a 5 amp?

Seen that systemair teamed up with another company to introduce the G.A.S system in their fans. They now do have an earth terminal.

Pretty sure that's what the wiring in my 6 inch looks like. 4 inch only has 1 of those plastic wire connector things inside

Yeah I wondered why it had like a wee hopper block beside the main 3 prong input block?
Would it be something to do with the G.A.S thing?

No idea, gardro did explain what it was on a thread I probably created at some point, but I can't remember what was said
