All I will say Fear180 is give this lot as much information as you can from the system you’re using to the temps of the environment the nutrients you’re using hell everything you can! For honestly the more information you give this lot the much better information you will get in return. On the other note don’t take anything as a insult brother you just gotta get to know this lovely lot some are easy to understand some got beautifully dark senses of humour. I can assure you that you will be able to tell when someone is having a go at you this you will not be able to mistake. So let’s all get the love of the lady’s in and you will receive the answers of that I am sure????
I will kindly step out of this thread Fear180, since you
feel attacked.
All the best dude.

Too much nutes.. be careful or you'll mess up the plant. They dont need a lot of feeding at that size and you can poison them by adding too much nutrient or feeding too often.

I seem to be a lone voice when it comes to what ec seedlings can handle.
Many reports of young seed plants getting burned but it can't just be the ec. I know that because I've grown 100s of seed plants with ec 1.8 from the day that they're potted up. Weak veg lighting might be a factor. All of mine get the same light from start to finish.
If a large plant drinks 1 litre of my nutes a day, she's had 2ml Micro and 4ml Bloom. A smaller plant drinking 100ml gets 0.2ml Micro and 0.4ml Bloom. A young plant only drinking 10ml a day gets 0.02ml Micro and 0.04ml Bloom.
Here's a 500ml mini hempy fun grow I did using full strength from the day she came out of the packet. 19g from 500ml.

dwc is completel different method of growing than soil or coco.
you dont need high feeds and encouraging him to do so isnt helping.
start them off at 300ppm, or 0.6 ec.

If you believe that I'm wrong then please explain why some new seedlings grow well at ec 1.8 and others can get burned at half that. Discussing differing opinions helps us learn. I've seen many good grows done with label dosage and all of my seedlings got full strength from day one.
I'm curious as to why some plants burn and some don't. As I said earlier, it isn't just the ec or every young plant would burn at full strength. By only having ec as the bogey man, other suspects aren't considered.
I agree that young seedlings don't actually need high ec, it's not going to directly increase yield. However, look at how many problems low ec grows tend to have. Experience helps deal with those problems but imo, the learning curve is lengthened unnecessarily. Where higher ec helps is by increasing the stability of the res. Less problems = more yield.

the main difference is that nutrients are always availible in dwc and in coco the plant can choose not to feed,if it is too hot.
if you are feeding seedlings at 1.8 ec,you are the only one doing so and if they arent burnt , id put it down to sheer good luck.
higher Ec increases the stability of the res? walob. how can it? its waffle....
going off label dosage is for those who cant read thier plants. it would be a better idea to learn this as the nutrient manufacturers are more than willing to let you fry your plants if it means they sell more nutrients.
i take it you dont grow in dwc, aye?
if you want to try it and prove me wrong, then crack on, in the meantime, heres a plant i did a while back, maximum feed was 1.2 in DWC, i scored 26 odd ounces off it..
..

I'm not the only one feeding seedlings ec 1.8. The lucas formula was developed for dwc. Many 100s of growers and many 1000s of seedlings grown at ec 1.8. It isn't luck. The weaker mix advocated for newly rooted clones is 62.5% of full strength. That's ~ ec 1.1 and they only get that for a week or two. Then it's full strength.
Hydro nutes have pH buffers. The weaker the mix, the less the pH buffering and the less stable the res. dwc grows that have the pH rapidly go out of range tend to have low ec.
going off label dosage is for those who cant read thier plants.
What's so special about being able to read plants? An ideal situation is never needing to read a plant because they never get sick. Well at least you admit that label dosage works.
The nutrient manufacturers label dosage is to make sure that the grower gets an acceptable result and that complaints are minimised. Basic nutes cost less than £30 per kw of lighting per grow at label dosage, it's no never mind. Trouble free grows are worth a few extra quid in nutes to me.
There is anecdotal evidence to 'prove' almost any grow related theory. ec 1.2 works for you, ec 1,8 works for others and there will be growers reporting burned plants at ec 0.9 or less. We still don't know why for sure.
What I see as wrong is being dogmatic about ec levels. If a grower has all green plants, then the ec/pH is good enough. No reason for them to change their regime.
It's when a grower has continual problems that all possibilities should be considered. It could be possible that the ec is too low for their situation. To automatically assume that higher ec will burn the plants prevents higher ec from being considered as an option.
