Yeah used to run them only in the Wilma but it’s a ball breaker cleaning them after each run and I can’t be arsed with that again. Lol. Can just launch coco away.

In coco, I always learned perlite just took up root space. If you have a larger pot, it could be beneficial but if you have an "ideal" or smaller size pot then you will have less root space.

Therefore to answer OPs specific point, no you do not >NEED< perlite.

If the answer was yes, it would beg the question how much and what ratio.

Then you would ask, at the extremes, is it better to grow in pure perlite vs pure coco.

The answer is coco so again answer to OP is no.

I used to use rapid start root stimulant with my coco plants and it benefitted significantly. I found 30% perlite and coco would get the same fast start for way less money. Perlite is great in 5 gallon fabric pots, maybe not so great in smaller pots. I can't think of any good reason for pebbles mixed in, but I ALWAYS put a 2 inch layer of well washed pebbles on top to create a barrier for thrips and root aphids it also helps add oxygen as the water cascades through the pebbles. You really don't need it unless you want unusually large yields. Pellets on the bottom is also good if your plants sit in the waste water, but not the best option in my mind.

I used to use perlite but don't bother anymore just canna coco plus.

I think you can add more perlite and clay pebbles so they get more frequent waterings but also less room for roots.

Most people iv asked they have noticed no difference in the 2.

Everyone should be using filter sleeves, they extend the life of your filter immensely by keeping dust out. Dust sticks to the carbon without one and reduces the surface area available for scrubbing odours from the air. Thus leading to smell leaks/early failure of the filter

You can machine wash some on low heat but I just hand wash mine with washing up liquid, rinse and wring, dry on the radiator

NO SELL, NO SMELL, NO TELL!!!
