A watt of MH is half as productive as a watt of HPS. Thats a given.

Not knowing how these glass things are made, Id be keen to see what the umol per watt of a dual spec if vs hps.

If there is MH and HPS "stuff" in the dual spec tube, I wonder if the MH part drags the umols down. Assume it will a bit.

Then if most folk say, dual spec ftw, spectrum really is important and umols are not as.

I don't rate the super HPS it seems really poor and buds were tiny but rock hard
So using the sun master dual spec seems best all round
Now if someone was to say 400w is 400w and won't make a difference and it is all in my head about electricity bills using the MH, then I'll go drop that one back in

Honestly. I would back that up about the 250mh I found that on my last grow. Honestly felt cheaper running the 400 hps. And the low humidity last veg I was like 20% for a few days. Got it up to 45 with the diy wick. Totally agree with that pal.

I thought common sense would tell you a 250w uses less than a 400w, you couldn't make this shit up?

Calm yourself down fella we're just a bunch of weed growers chewing the fat to get through these crappy times and sometimes passion rules our heads

This is the reason I wanted a "pure red" HPS.. they used to sell them years ago but now they all seem to be dual spectrum.

If I spend any more money on my setup it will definitly go to some quality LEDs

If you want a lot of blue light, stalk the auction site for used 315w cmh. I've seen the ballasts go for £35 or less. The 315 930 Elite Agro is the default lamp for flowering and like hps, is good enough to veg with.

The vegging lamp is the Philips 315 942. Like the 930, reassuringly expensive but they will last a good few years. When I used the 942, by the time that the plants should have been poking through the scrog screen, they were only half way there. With fan leaves much bigger than my hand.

The 930 is quoted at 1.9 umol and the 942 at 1.7 umol.

I used to use MH for Veg and I am pretty sure that there was a sunmaster bulb that gave out a more red color than standard HPS bulbs for flower,I haven't bought those in over 8 years though.
