I know how to do that but am wondering if I can put the windows photo program it's self on the flash drive
or do I need to download a separate editing program on the drive?

You can use the systems photo program & save any changes you make back to the original file....

Mmm not sure if you can run editing software on a thumbdrive i've never tried it..I use an external 2TB hard drive for video and photo back up which allows direct editing..

You could try and install the editing software onto the thumb drive if the drive is large enough.
