fwir here, soil isn't great for autos. Autos are on a deadline and the faster they grow, the bigger they are when flowering starts. Transplanting costs about a week of growth. Not a problem with photos, they can be vegged longer to make up for that.
With passive hydro, they start in the pot they will finish in. Bigger the pot, the longer it takes for the rapid growth growth to start. When using 11L pots, that was just over 2 weeks for me. With the 5L pots I'm using now, it's not much more than a week.
The pic is my current grow with a photo using the coco variant of the lucas formula. 5 weeks in the pot. pH is ok with my p/H 7.0 tap water. No ec/pH meters or pH adjusters used. The clone wasn't planned. It was from a mate who ordered 10 and only needed 9.
