So far, all the ones I've used are shite..
Depending on budget, I'd lean towards the £60+ fans, mainly because they cheaper ones I've used have got quite noisy after a few weeks or so.

Sorry I can't actually help with the problem, but there are so many brands to choose from.

My bionair remote control tower lasted about 2 maybe 2 1/2 years before it started clicking at the end of its oscillate then it got hung from ratchets for a while. It was 65 quid ish and I still have it and its still pretty quiet unless oscillating, so use it in the bedroom in summer

My current cheap one (£20 ebay special) has been going for a few months now. Quiet enough but started clicking on oscillate after 6 weeks or so. Will run it till it packs up swinging then bin it

NO SELL, NO SMELL, NO TELL!!!
