Plug the pump into a multi-outlet strip with a power switch. No floats/switches needed, right? Appreciate any feedback.

Some of the hydro boys can answer this better but the only issue I foresee is priming the pump if the tray is dry. You can get self priming pumps but not sure if they are any good or not.

With a non priming pump I imagine you will require water in the tray at all times to stop air locks

I used to use a 1/2L car oil change syringe and remove runoff by hand It gets old quick tho

I just use some old tent poles to lift the pots then use a wet vac to suck out the water. I like to keep things nice and simple Click image for larger version.

Thanks a bunch for tips, Mac. Got me a starting point now. lol
I like the syringe idea. Seems neat and quick.
Guessing I'll go that route if I can't get figure out a pump system; about to go down that rabbit hole.

I like it, man. I was originally thinking of something like that. No fuss.

    Agreed!

Maybe down the line I can figure out a voice activated pump so I can just shout "Drain!"

It occurred to me that maybe I shouldn't have screwed into the panel to brace the columns.
I did just create 20 potential failure points. lmao
Coulda been solved without screws or glue or anything but the metal itself.
With needle nose plyers you can bend and crimp two edges together pretty easily.

Just thinking out loud here. Hopefully not annoying.

Might have a work around for the air lock issue, but I also might be completely losing the plot. Feel free to chime in.

If the frame were boosted up another inch a sunken 4"x4"x1" compartment could be added to the front right corner of the panel floor; where the inlet tube would rest. Those dimensions are just founded in hope, as I'm clueless as to how quickly 16 cubic inches of water would evaporate under average grow conditions (humidity, temps, wind). I'm guessing a 2-1/2" x 3" area with a 2" depth (still about 16 cubic inches) would evaporate slower due to the reduced surface area, but I don't want to lose another 2" of height, and I might be completely wrong about that anyway...
Actually maybe the surface area could be reduced to practically nothing if a just a hole were drilled to the lower compartment; something the inlet tube can fit through with like a 1/4" wiggle room. I dunno.

For all I know the volume might need to be much bigger to not need daily topping off, and I think too much standing water opens doors to bacteria and mold issues, right? '

After trying some evaporation calculators I think it's best that I get my answers from experimentation. lol

When my bulbs come in I guess I can fire up the tent and see how long it takes for different sized 1" depth containers to go poof over 24 hours.
