    Default What are we all growing this year?

    Well, for some reason, my strawberry plant decided to die over the last few weeks But I have a small one that I tended from a sucker last year... see how it goes...!

    Maybe my olives will grow big enough this year - maybe my kiwi may flower!

    Bur, apart from the above, I have some tomatoes, which will go in hanging baskets again - it worked well last year!

    I also have some chillies in.

    Still to plant are my cucumbers & cougettes

    But, this year, I've found a new plant to play with - Cucamelon!

    Apparently tastes a little like watermelon with a hint of lime... bring it on!

    I've been running a little behind on mine but I'm growing the following ;

    Onions, runner beans, tomatoes (cherry and plum varieties), chilli peppers.

    My Lemon Tree, olive tree, mock orange and double lilac are all doing well for the time of year..

    Oh, and the most fragranced sweet peas I've been growing and collecting the seeds from now over the last 6-7 years..my Mrs LOVES them, so I make sure to grow them each year to collect more seeds

    I should get a good amount of cherries from the 4 cherry trees that I planted last year,I might be lucky and get some plums from the 3 plum trees,nothing from the pear tree this year.
    Hopefully my strawberries,arctic kiwi vines,and gooseberry bush all survived the winter I don't expect anything from the arctic kiwi vines for another couple of years.
    My rhubarb always bounces back,once the snow finally melts and the ground dries up I'm gonna have to work on my veg patch as well.

    I've grown cucamelons before. They are described as being like a cucumber with a hint of lemon - but in reality they tasted like a sour cucumber and mostly consisted of seeds.

    I still got my herbs (rosemary and thyme) bushes and garlic plant that I'm still tending. My Tom's are already down. Not sure if I have the time to do them properly this year, but I definitely want too.

    I'm gonna grow some lavender this year and see if it helps keep the HUGE country mossies at bay.
